Innovate UK, as part of UK Research and Innovation, will be offering a grant for the £1.7M project titled “Transforming home refrigeration with efficient and flexible magnetic cooling” led by Camfridge Ltd. with Imperial College as scientific partner.
“This grant is recognition that Camfridge is the leader in magnetic cooling, a game changing new technology that will transform cooling in the kitchen and drive a step change in appliance energy efficiency” said Neil Wilson, CEO of Camfridge, adding, “I would like to thank the Camfridge team, our partners and all those who have supported us”.
“By exploiting the major advantages of this technology we can deliver on-demand cooling and distributed cooling which will completely redefine the concept of the home domestic fridge – it is going to usher in a cold-appliance revolution” said Dr Alessandro Pastore, Executive director Business development, adding “this is also an environmental product, being hugely more energy efficient, completely gas-free and easy to recycle”.
